The Birthday Bash and the Bridge

Mike, Ben, and Michael having fun at the party for 4!
24 buckets filled with party goodies for the kiddos

Our great set up with a tent and 6 umbrellas

So today was the day of Michael's 2nd birthday party on the beach at Fripp Island. We left our house early this morning and our friend Ben came along to help us set up. Mike and Ben hauled two car loads of coolers, food, cake, balloons, and party favors to the beach. The party was scheduled to start at 11 and a few minutes before 11 we were nowhere near ready for our guests. I started getting phone calls from people saying they were running late because the drawbridge was open. I thought this would give us a few extra minutes to set up. 30 minutes later people were still stuck in traffic. It turns out the bridge broke and was stuck open. A specialist had to be brought in from Charleston to fix it and it would be closed for 2-3 hours!!!! This bridge is on the only road to and from Fripp. Our guests had no choice but to turn around. The bridge was closed from 10:50-1:10. Our party was supposed to be from 11-1. Can you believe the timing!!! We thought we could reschedule the party later that afternoon, but guess what, thunderstorms rolled in and ruined any chance of that.

Needless to say, Michael's party consisted of me, Mike, and Ben with four cases of beer, soda, juice boxes, 48 cupcakes, tons of snack food, and a watermelon. We had a great set up and it would have been a great time. Oh well!! Better luck next year for his 3rd birthday!
